infrastructure systems for services such as registration, billing,
customer service tools, and storefront management tools for
PLAYSTATION®Network.
IT Operations Manager
Los Angeles, CA
The Manager, IT Operations will be the local IT contact for the Los
Angeles office. This position will be responsible for assuring that all
employees have the tools they need to efficiently complete their tasks.
This position will help oversee desktop support across SMSS and assure
all tickets are completed in a timely and high-level manner. This
position will report to the Director, IT Operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Main IT contact for Los Angeles office
- Ensure users have the tools they need to complete their tasks
efficiently
- Project manage and work with rest of the IT and network teams to
make enhancements and solve issues
- Plan and architect Microsoft Office SharePoint Server
- Plan and architect BMC Remedy
- Help oversee desktop support team across organization
- Help oversee systems support of campus and encoding operations
group
- Participate as an integral and active member in the strategic
planning process of the enterprise
- Promote and oversee relationships between the organization's IT
resources and external entities (e.g., clients, vendors, and other
business partners).
- Help review invoices for all offices
- Assist with reducing costs across the organization
- Perform root cause analysis on persistent or major server related
hardware, software & application related problems.
- Help manage, maintain and support a multi-location e-mail,
messaging, tape backup and storage infrastructure
- Participate in on-call rotation and respond to emergencies

- Travel to other SMSS offices upon request
Skills:
- 5-7 years of direct IT experience in a campus-based
environment. At least 2-3 years management experience.
- Previous desktop support management experience preferred
- In-depth experience with performance tuning, monitoring systems,
statistics/metrics collection, and disaster recovery planning
- Ability to foster teamwork in high-paced environment
- Ability to multi-task several important projects
- Strong working knowledge (including the ability to setup,
configure, upgrade, manage, and troubleshoot) of the following:
- Active Directory
- LAN/WAN architecture
- Exchange 2000 / 2003 / 2007
- VMware ESX / Infrastructure
- Microsoft Office SharePoint
- BMC Remedy
- PGP
- Ghost
- Veritas Netbackup
- Network Appliance, EMC Storage, Isilon
- RSA solutions
- Microsoft Systems Center Configuration Manager
- Atlassian JIRA and Confluence
- Strong experience with encoding environments
- Strong knowledge of digital video systems and protocols such as
MPEG, DVB, etc.
- Ability to leverage a thorough understanding of the interactions
between systems to not only troubleshoot problems, but also identify
performance-tuning opportunities
- Programming background in multitude of computing environments,
Linux, Solaris, Windows and Real-time embedded systems preferred
- Previous experience installing, testing, and operating digital
video equipment in the video / network path preferred
- Experience with digital video systems including architectures and
equipment such as digital video set top boxes, PS3s, multiplexers,
head-end equipment, conditional access (security) and digital video
servers preferred
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with a proven
ability to interface with internal/external customers, vendors,
management etc. in both formal and informal settings
- Ability to work independently with little supervision
Education:
- B.S./B.A. in Computer Science, Information Systems,
Electrical/Computer Engineering or equivalent experience preferred.
- Technical certifications (MCSE, CCNA, etc.) preferred
